Practice Profile Story

Nahela, Makena, Kalani, and I worked together for our practice profile story. The purpose of this was to get ready for the real interview and to see what problems we might run into on the real profile story. I also think this was a good thing to do because when we did the real project it was easier to do then it was for the practice story. It really helped us for the finished project and we finished the real one first and it was clear but the only reason we finished properly and efficiently was because of the practice story. For our practice story we interviewed Nahele Keale. we chose her because she had a interesting story, the practice story was about Nahele Keale likes exercising. This was a very easy topic to work with and complete but we didn't finish it on time.

Profile Project Progress

For my team and I, we decided to interview Nahela Keale's grandfather Michael Keale. Our interview was about Michael Keale and how he loves music, storys and sharing words of wisdom with others. This project was shot at Coco MarketPlace and at Michael Keale's home. We chose Michael Keale because he had a inspirational story to share and he also had a good choice of words. Michael Keale loves to play music and he shows how hard he works for what he loves.

For our B-roll and voice overs we had a difficult time trying to fine what parts of his normal life we should have filmed. Once we figured out the B-roll we needed we signed out a camera and got right to work. we got seven different sets of b-roll, when it was time to film the voice overs we were still trying to finish our transcription templet. The second time we had time to do it we went straight to work and got if done. We used lavalier microphones because we wanted to get the sound as good as we can, we used these micraphones on our voice overs and interview.

Our team had difficulties and hard times but I think we can finish this. If our team had tried hard to work together and split all the work evenly then I think we could have more done by now. All of us were stressing out more and more but the only reason that was is because we are racing the clock and trying to finish before our due date. This team had ups and downs but right now I don't think we are behind I think we are in the middle. My team can get through this project.

Our teams rough cut was turned in and also critiqued by my teacher and class, now I know what I have to work on an get done. Nahela, Makena, Kalani, and I have some things we have to work on. One thing our team has to work on is getting more B-roll to cover the green screen in the beginning and end. Another thing is we have to make less cuts & jumps in the interview. Most importantly we need to make the video shorter because out video was supposed to be 3 min to 3min and 30 sec but our video was 5 minutes almost 6. We need to fix out video project.

Composition Techniques

Composition Techniques is a way to get very interesting shots and good pictures. There are many different techniques, but I think these four are the main ones rule of thirds, unusual angles, framing, and leading lines. The rule of thirds is a way to get a better looking shots, this is when you put your subject on a side of the camera shot (Top Right Corner). Unusual angles make your image shots much more interesting then a plain old shot angles, to get unusual angles you put your camera in a low places, high places, or any where that you don't usually put the camera (Bottom Right Corner). When you Frame your shots with natural resources it makes your pictures look nice and more interesting. To get framing shots is you place your subject in the middle of a frame (Top Left Corner). Leading lines is a way to make your images look very interesting, the way leading lines work is there are lines that lead your eyes straight to the main subject (Bottom Left Corner). This is what I think of composition techniques and what I think the mains techniques are.
