Scratch Game Design

User experience influenced my game by making me want to make a good well working game. This game was influenced by my earlier experience because all the games I played or finished functioned nicely. My past experience really helped me figure out what I wanted to do with my chase game. I was hoping to successfully finish a fully functional game but that didn't happen this game above is unfinished it literally does nothing. The second game I created worked better because I knew more about how to make a platform game. I had a hard time trying to make it switch to a second level because the function was using didn't work, but the platform game works a lot better then the chase game because the sprite actually moves.

The features in this game are pretty simple, one sprite open and closes its mouth chasing the other sprite. My game was also supposed to add and subtract point when the purple sprite stayed away from the black sprite for 5 seconds and when the purple sprite touched the black sprite and in 30 seconds you will win or loose. In my case the games wasn't cooperating, it wasn't letting me move the functions. The second games features are simple as well because all you really need to do is use the arrow keys, left arrow to go left, right arrow to go right, and up arrow to jump. When you touch the green square it'd supposed to switch levels but all it really does is make a sound.

I think my best code was making this platform game because my sprite moves nicely and jumps well. I think I did well on the platform game because I had more experience this time. Also I thought the movement out more then just throwing every thing together. The hardest bug fix I had to do was trying to make the ghost sprite to jump and fall back down at the right speed because at first I was using the wrong functions and wrong numbers but after a couple retries it worked out.

Invention Commercial

My team and I's main goal for this project was to get a good grade and succeed in making a acceptable video for the class. We wanted a good grade for this project because we were really excited to make this product because we thought it would be a good useful idea. Another goal was try to get the app we were working on to actually become a real app, but that didn't happen. Also, even though the main goal was to get a good grade but we did really want to work hard and have fun with project at the same time. Trough out this whole project time my partner and I had fun, tried our hardest, tried producing our best work, and got a good enough grade.

The best team moment from this project was when we were making the plan for this product. Mostly because we really wanted it to work out and become something that really worked as an assignment and a product. Also we were super excited about this project and really ready to get this project going. I guess what made it the best team moment was because we were all happy and thrilled to to be working on a project that included something we were interested in. Plus my team mate and I really worked well together so that helped us work on the project a lot.

In the editing proses Daileen did most of the editing and did a pretty well job. When Daileen was done editing I went back and reedited everything that wasn't how we wanted it. Also the video was in the wrong stop so I had to fix the b-roll and the voice over so we could add in transitions and effects. Daileen wanted to finish the editing of the project earlier so she went in class during lunch and recess. I did all the fixing of the editing because both Daileen and I thought that there could be improvement on it. I think how we did the editing really worked because Daileen started to edit, then I helped her edit, last everything that needed a little touch up I made better.

Composition Scavenger Hunt

I think the most important composition technique is leading lines, Why do I think that? You may ask, well because leading lines draw your eye to the subject and make your shot much more interesting. When you look at a leading lines photo your attention goes directly to the main point of the image, is makes like your looking into depth as well. I think leading lines is a very cool imagery technique because it can make your pictures much more amusing to look at and observe. Leading line is the most interesting photo shot because of all the creativity.
I think the most difficult composition technique is parts of a whole, why? Because if you look at a photo that is just a part of something it wouldn't make complete sense to you. If you saw a part of a face (in video above) it is actually really confusing to why you would only see half a face and not know why your only seeing half. I guess if you were to use it more you would have to take a parts of a whole photo or video of an object that won't make is odd to look at. It's also kind of hard to use this composition technique because when you look at a part of something its not interesting its more confusing and boring.
My team meats were Daileen Barton and Nahele Keale and they were both really easy to work with. I believe that our team worked well together in this project we all got along well and got our work done. The first scene we shot was rule of thirds scenery and Daileen shot it, I did the second shot rule of thirds subject. Some of the other ones were contrast and content Daileen shot it and i did the voice over, leading lines was done by Daileen, Nahele did framing, Daileen also did parts of a whole, Nahele did the extreme close up of her eye, Daileen did repetition of shapes, for grouping shots we were all included in the shot, and last is unusual angle done by Nahele. All the voice overs describing what the techniques were done by Daileen and my self because Nahele wasn't here.

Cracking the Code

I believe everyone should learn how to code, at least one class of coding. Everyone should learn how to code because it's important, it may not seem important to you right now but, it will be very important when you get a little older or later in life because coding is every where you look. If you were wondering coding is a set of written instructions used by computers to do something. Coding also may come in handy in many situations what if you want to make a game or something like that but there are many things you can use coding for. What if you need to code something on a computer one day and you don't know how to code.

The two lessons on coding I did in my G.T. class weren't my 1st try at it. Well my real first time was last year in my science class and it was difficult at first but the more I did it the easier it got. When the levels got more complex I had to start thinking harder about what pieces went where. I realized that you have to be very precise or you wont get the code right, also the less code the better. My overall first experience with coding was good, It went better then expected at least.

If I could design any program or game it would most likely be an app that would help you pick out your outfit daily. This is how it would work, you would take a picture of all of your clothes individually, oh yeah don't forget about your shoes record them all into the app and even all the new clothes you buy you record them to. After there recorded your ready to go, but every morning, night, or when ever your picking a outfit out you have to choose what design you want for example: if your really happy one day you would choose the happy selection, or if your feeling down, 80's, modern, flashy, anything you want or even choose random. I feel that this would be good for teenage girls or maybe even boys, and some adults. There will actually be more of this in my next blog ;)

Humorous Monologue

This project helped me learn a few more thing that I didn't know before. For example, when creating a joke you have to revise it over and over agin until you think its perfect or at least good enough to make people laugh. I also learned that when you make a joke plan the timing seriously matters, because if your timing is off even just a tad it will loose the effect of the full potential of your humorous joke. Those are really the only major things I learned from this project, except it's super hard to hold a camera up for a long time with out a tripod. Thats all that is really gained from this project.

You really need padding for your videos because if you don't you cut out some of your audio when you speak. It is actually very crucial to have padding because if you cut out your audio it will be super confusing cause your audience wont know what the first and last words you say while filming. Padding is actually the five seconds before and after you start speaking in a video. It is very crucial to give yourself 5 seconds before and after because you cant always just start filming when your camera might not even pick up the first couple word you spoke. Another description for padding is the time needed to help make a good video.

The strong suit for me on this project was making the actual joke because I think it was a pretty good joke. My weakness on this project was filming because I wanted to use my own camera but my mother kept taking it and using it for work. Ways I could have improved on this project was to get much better b-roll, and b-roll that matched my joke. Over all on this project I think I did a pretty good job because I tried my best and did my highest work I could have.

Comedy Writing

A sense of humor is very important for a humans trait because everyone loves a laugh here and there occasionally. Its always better to have a person thats funny and jokes around then someone who's always serious and can't even take a joke (no offense to anyone). A little humor can always brighten up someones day. Most of the time with humor your being funny and getting people happy but sometimes you can go to far and insult someone. Being humorous can be a good thing or a bad thing depends how you use it.

To make a humorous narrative you need to find some material to use or to write about. You can also think about your life or your self and find something funny that happened to you and embarrass your self. Also when being funny don't laugh at your own jokes it makes like you don't think it's funny which makes it even more funny. Make your jokes short and fast; but remember timing is everything. Last you should be kind of serious.

My comedic monologue is about me and how I'm a teenager looking back in to my life. Its funny because I called my self a mutant creature, but actually a teenager so I'm kind of in the middle of being a child and being a adult. Also I said that I couldn't help but look back into those good old days where you would just jump into a van and realize that the man doesn't have any candy; this is funny because when your little your taught to never talk to strangers and to never get into a van when the man says he has candy. The fact that your not supposed to do what I said that I did makes it humorous. Last I said that all a kid wants now days in the 21st century is food or free wifi and this is funny because all teenagers go on there electronics most of the time.

Motivational Poster

For this motivational poster project were doing right now we have a couple of requirements we need to reach to get a good grade, first theres the layer requirements. For the layer requirements we have to have four pictures in total, which are three images that represent who I am as a person, the last photo is a portrait of my face. The second layers we have are the text layers, we have to use only two text layers one  is for our manifesto and the other one is for our personal quotes. Also we have requirements for our design, here they are, every text layer will always be kerned so there are no blank spaces all around the page. We also need a triadic color scheme for our posters. On our text we need to add a drop shadow, stroke, outer glow, a bevel and emboss.

First I got a whole bunch of manifestos that matter to me and I also got some quotes and kerned them to fit onto the page, so almost all of the words were different sizes. After all of my words were kerned I put three pictures that mean something to me and a portrait of my self in the back of my text. Then when I'm done with all my pictures I have to pick a triadic color scheme for the text, the colors go on the stroke, drop shadow, outer glow, and the bevel and emboss. Last I have to change the colors of my pictures to match my triadic color scheme.

My biggest challenge I had with this project was to kern all my words right. But when I kerned all my words I realized that I needed a lot more quotes and manifestos; that was the hard part I couldn't think of any thing that matted to me so I had to really think. About three days I was still suck on trying to find some quotes or manifestos and I was also way behind on this project I thought I was so behind I wasn't going to get a good grade. Then two days before the project was due I thought of so many things that means a lot to me but by the time a typed them all in I had a day to kern, and etc. So at the end I didn't finish it all in time but I did get a good enough grade to get an A, yaaay!

Personal Manifesto

Hi! It's Jasmine I'm back in my blog for a new school year. Heres some interesting and unique facts about me, I was born on 9/11/01 the exact day of the plane crash on the twin towers. Something else fascinating about me is that I'm supposed to be in 8th grade. Last but not least, my moms side of her family is from Canada and is Canadian. There are many intriguing facts about me but these ate the most interesting.

My 2015-2016 manifesto is to be helpful and strong. There are many things that mean something to me, that I say every day after I wake up. Some of them are get everything you need to get done, done as soon as possible. Also help out family when they need it and always do things with out asking. I also try to do house jobs for my parents so they don't have to work to hard. These are some times I say to my self when I wake up.

My manifesto relates to all of my readers because the sentences I'm using can be for everyone or anyone. The goals I have said are something that average people can use in there everyday lives as well as me. Many of my goals or manifestos apply to my or maybe anyones everyday life. I believe that the manifestos I chose can relate to any person but mostly children or teens because it has to do with things that don't really interest us.

Lyrical Livelihood

My favorite song lyrics make me feel happy. Why? You may ask me, well because when I'm board, tired, or sad I could just listen to that song and I would get more up beat and happy. I think the reason music makes me happy is because when I listen to music it takes me to a different place. Well it feels like it because my mom doesn't bother me and i cant hear her anyway. Also because when I'm listening to music I don't even need to pay attention to whats going on around me.

My team and I chose the song stitches by Shawn Mendes. We chose this song because we like the beat and the lyrics. We feel that the song relates to us, we also chose it because it has nice meaningful word in the lyrics. I feel like we really chose this song because it has a good beat, words, and harmony. We really like all kinds of music but we decided to choose a happy sad song this time.

The visual story my team and I will tell is, at first we are going to show that there is this one boy who was cheating on three girls that are best friends. He doesn't know that they have figured it out yet but they did and when they did they realized that they were all very sad they didn't know what to do, they all cried. After a while they tried killing themselves because they were all so sad but then they didn't have the strength to really die. They talked to each other and talked it out, they found out that it was a mistake, no one knew that they were dating the same boy. They have a sleep over and dance around one of their houses and fun to get that boy out of their heads.

Our Animation Story

Our focus statement tells our story because it shows what the stories going to be about. It also helps to give you an idea about how its going to be done. It tells our story because our focus statement is "Taylor Defends her self". It makes sense because the whole story is about how Taylor stands up for her self and tries to make her problem better. This also tells our story because it gives the main idea of the story.

Im hoping that my audience will learn that bulling is never a good thing. Everyone gets bullied at least once in their life time. Stand up for your self it does make the bully stop. We are trying to tell the audience that when and if you get bullied then you have to show that you don't like getting bullied and you want them to stop so you have to get up and show you can be the bigger man. The thing is that every kid getting bullied has a hard time with getting through it so we want to show kids that you can stop it, no matter how weak you think you are.

My team and I had some major ups and downs but we got through them. The first bad thing was we couldn't find time in our schedules for filming but the good thing is when we did we got to work. We tried really hard to get stuff done, work on it as much as possible. I think that my team did a really good job over all. I think the biggest problem we went through is the fact that not all of us worked together through out the whole project.

Animation Outtakes

My team mates are Jaesha Mata, Megan Mahikoa, and Taylor Chang. Two interesting things about them that no one else knows is Megan is a farm girl and she is not afraid to get dirty. Taylor like to get stuff done fast and she doesn't watch T.V. Jaesha rides dirk bike and has very little patience. These are thing not many people know about these three girls.

Stop-motion is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object or person appear to move on its own. The object is moved very little then the photographer takes a picture then on and on. Then when you play the pictures together, it is played as a continuous sequence. Dolls with movable joints or clay figures are usually used for stop motion because they can reposition easily. Not all stop motion requires dolls, some stop motion films are made with humans or with any day household appliances and other things. Stop motion is also referred to as object animation.

My team and I are telling taylor's story. Her story is about her getting bullied in school and cyber bullied. There is a named taylor and she is new to the school, and the popular girl Jaesha wants to bully her because she wanted to feel like the bigger person. You should care because everyone now days get bullied online and in person, being bullied can lead to deep depression and suicidal thoughts. This story shows if you stand up for your self then you can make a difference.

Typography Images

Typography is a photo that has text that relates to the person you chose all over face and around it. Its a normal portrait photo with text over it. The image has a long lasting impact because it looks cool and also the words say in your mind because they are interesting and make the photo looks cool. Also I think another reason these images have a long lasting impact is because they have a nice texture to the image. Its out of the ordinary image, it looks very different but at the same time cool.

I think the biggest problem I have was trying to remember each and every step, trying to get all of them right. It was difficult because if you do one step wrong then you have to go back and redo the step you just did because if you do one part wrong and leave it, then the whole project at the end will not be as its supposed to. The way I got over this problem was I kept watching the tutorial over and over again till I remembered what to do. I guess this wasn't a huge problem but it was a difficult part of this project. I'm glad I ran in to this problem because it taught me how to make sure I do things right and if I don't, do it again the right ways.

My first example is Leonardo Da Vinci, but here the thing we did every single example different. Each different project we did of typography was in a different style or type of way, for the first one we did put the text over the image (dont want to get in to details). On the second example we put a text stamp over the image and put a gradient overlay. For the last example we had shadows, dark shadows, and light shadows and we put them in different colors and put a back ground. I think my favorite example would be the typography of me because it was more difficult then the other two and I worked really hard on it, and it also came out very well.

Double Exposed Portraits

Portrait photography is a person or group of people that displays the expression and the focus of the photograph is usually the person's face or entire body and the background. To split it up a portrait is a photo of a persons face from the front. Portrait pictures show your mood and you can show expression. But a profile picture is the side view of a persons face, only showing one eye. Silhouetting is also a profile picture but its black and it's hard to see the details on the face. Profile photos and silhouetting are similar to portrait pictures because, you can see who the person is. In a photo like this you can see how long their hair is, and if it's straight or wavy.

Double exposures are created in Photoshop by going to file>scripts>load files into stack. Then you rearrange your three images in to a crop of 8.5x11, make sure the crop is even all around your head. When you've done that you use the dodge tool and go around your image till around your images white. After that then you double click on both of your photo layers one at a time and turn it on screen mode so its like you turned the opacity down. When that's done you go to layer>new layer adjustment and you choose one and change it up until you like the image, then you keep adding more until you think its finished. That's how you make a double exposure and why would you want to make one maybe because they look really cool and their also really pretty. Plus most of the time when you make double exposures you can put two symbols that represent you (those would be the two photo layers).

For my two symbols I chose a waterfall and a heart-shaped flower. Why do these two things symbolize me? You my ask, well the waterfall symbolizes me because I love the water and the waterfall shown. This waterfall is a waterfall me and all my friends go on the weekend or on our free time. The flower stands for my love for nature and how its so beautiful.

HDR Photography

HDR means high dynamic range, so you add more range to your pictures. Dynamic range is a range of light to dark in a photo. Instead of just taking one photo, HDR uses multiple pictures all taken at different exposures. HDR is used to make your photos look better, when you used HDR your photos look more detailed. I like using HDR, personally I think it makes your photos look much better and way more detailed. Sometimes when you used HDR it kind of makes your pictures look fake, like if you saw it in person you still wouldn't see what that picture shows.
Well to start off you need to get your pictures. So first you will need a camera that has more than one exposure button they look like this +/-. Then when you have the camera ready put in somewhere steady so it doesn't move too much, you don't want the camera to move. The you press the - (minus) exposure button till its at the lowest level then you take your first picture. To take your second picture you want to press your exposure button again and go one the next whole number up (If you want a lot of pictures to make it even more detailed then you can go through all the mixed numbers as well) when you have moved your exposure up then take another picture, so on and so forth (Keep going) until you have used all the whole number exposure buttons. Then you go to Photoshop, and click on file> automate> merge to HDR, then photoshop will merge your photos together and you can edit them the way want. When your done editing then you press the ok button then press, file, save, change the name to what you want it to be, and then change the .psd file to a .jpg file and your done you have a fully done HDR photo edited and saved. This is kind of different from automatic HDR because you have to do every thing by yourself.
The way I came up with my idea to do the HDR image I did was to get a shot that would have a lot of detail and not much moving in it. My second HDR image was planed out thinking it would be a good photo. I guess that when I take HDR photos I actually just look for a nice view or a nice landscape and take a picture of. Most of the time when I take any kind of photo I will look and say "that would be a nice shot" and then ill look for the right angle and the right lighting and ill take the picture; that's kind of what I did with the HDR photos. I guess if I had to really detail it then I look for the most beautiful shot and then take the pictures.

Movie Trailer Critique

This project was very fun, I think it was the best this year so far; It was a movie trailer we had to make or reenact. My team and I made a movie trailer and it was about a girl named Violet who sacrifices herself for her friends. My team makes were Nahele Keale, Makena Kahananui, Jaesha Mata, and my self Jasmine Laplante. Our trailer plan document was completed a week late but it was done well. We contributed well we are all friends so it worked out well we got along and got the work done. We might have fought on some parts but we got through it.

The project requirements were pretty simple. I needed at least 5 shot sequences, foley, voice overs, a movie poster at the end, and ect. My team unfortunately didn't complete all of them, we didn't finish all of them because we didn't have enough time to get all of them in. I think the reason we didn't have all the requirements done is because we didn't work efficient and didn't work together enough. I feel like if we had talked about it more and came in class at recess and lunch to edit it we would have done all of them.

The class critique was good I was fairly happy of what we got graded. The critique was easy to choose the grades. I think what the class gave us is what we deserved because we didn't get all of the requirements complete. I learned if you want to get good grades you have to work for them. I think this project really helped improve our editing skills in FCPX, get plans straight ahead of time, and how to work together.
